Sunoco Rookie Driver to Make First Trip to Wisconsin Road Course

As a Sunoco Rookie in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, Dakoda Armstrong has never been to Road America. That will change this weekend. The New Castle, Indiana native will head to Wisconsin for the first road course race of the 2014 season.

While Armstrong will admit that road courses are not his forte, he does have some experience turning right and left. In 2010, he competed in two road course events in the ARCA Racing series, earning one Top-10 and two Top-15 finishes. Armstrong also has one road course start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, where he earned a Top-20 finish in 2013.

As an organization, the finishes don't tell the tale for RPM. In the last two years, the No. 43 Ford Mustang ran in the Top-10 in the closing laps when unfortunate circumstances took the team out of contention.

@Dakoda Armstrong will head to new territory this weekend at Road America. It will be the Sunoco Rookie's first trip to the Wisconsin track, but he has three career road course starts to his name in two other racing series.

"I haven't done a lot of road course racing. We tested at VIR this year so that I could get some experience, and I've been able to interact with Marcos (Ambrose) when he tested at Kershaw. We have quite a few road courses on the schedule, so we'd really like get a good start at Road America. The biggest thing with road course racing is getting to know the track. They are all so different, and I've been on a few that I've been able to figure out right away and then some that were more challenging. I've never been to Road America, but I watched some of the races on TV and it looks like a really fun track. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can do there this weekend."
