Dakoda Armstrong Struggles for 30th Place Finish in Bristol
Posted: 8 years ago

BRISTOL, TN (April 17, 2016) - Bristol Motor Speedway is known as "The World's Fastest Half Mile" and can be challenging for every team and driver.  Unfortunately Dakoda Armstrong and his JGL Racing team found out just how challenging as they struggled with their No. 28 Winfield Toyota on way to their season worst finish of 30th in the running of the Fitzgerald Glider Kits 300 at the Bristol, TN track.

"This was beyond frustrating for me and everyone on this JGL Racing team," said Armstrong.  "We were actually pretty good at the end of the practice sessions on Friday and we all had some high expectations.  Then we get here today and just struggled from the very beginning with qualifying, the heat race and then the Main."

With the debut of the NASCAR XFINITY Series new Dash 4 Cash format featuring two heat races and a main event, Dakoda would start Heat 1 from the 13th position as a result of his qualifying effort.  The Heat race did not prove beneficial as Armstrong struggled with his No. 28 Winfield Toyota and finished 16th at the end of the 50 lap event.    The 200-lap main event would see Dakoda and his No. 28 Winfield Toyota continue to struggle.  The New Castle, Indiana native would focus on keeping his car safe and brought it home with the disappointing finish.

"We are struggling right now but all you can do is put your head down and keep digging," added Dakoda.  "We haven't had any breaks fall our way either that you need when you are struggling so that has made it even harder.  We will all keep working hard and head to Richmond next week with our sights set on changing our fortunes."

The 30th-place finish will keep Armstrong in the 14th position in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - 22 points of the top-12.

Armstrong and his JGL Racing team next head to Richmond International Raceway for the running of the ToyotaCare 250.  The eighth race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Saturday April 23rd and can be seen LIVE on FOX Sports1 at 12:30 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
