Dakoda Armstrong Matches Season Best Finish in Richmond

RICHMOND, VA (April 24, 2016) - To say that the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series season has been a disappointment for Dakoda Armstrong and his JGL Racing team would be a huge understatement.  Both driver and team took a step towards changing that as Armstrong piloted his No. 28 Winfield Toyota to a 14th-place finish in the running of the ToyotaCare 250 at Richmond International Raceway.

"This was a very solid performance for me and this team and something that was greatly needed," said Armstrong.  "We continued to make the car better all day and there at the end of the race it was the best it had been.  Steven Lane (crew chief) and everyone on this JGL Racing team worked hard and made great adjustments throughout the day."

For the second week in a row the NASCAR XFINITY Series featured the new Dash 4 Cash format consisting of two heat races and a main race. With the field being set per the rule book as a result of rain on Friday altering the weekend schedule, Dakoda would start Heat 1 from the 10th position.  The New Castle, Indiana native would find his No. 28 Winfield Toyota to be a little loose off the corners which hampered his progress.

The 140-lap main event would see Dakoda roll off in the 25th position as a result of his finish in his Heat race.  He would continue to deal with the loose off the corners issue but the car began to tighten up during a long green flag run.  Armstrong would come down pit road around lap 100 under green flag conditions for tires, fuel and adjustments.  The adjustments proved helpful and Dakoda would pick up valuable positions during the remaining laps of the race to match his best finish of the season (he also finished 14th in the season opener in Daytona).

"I think today could be a big turning point in our season so far," added Dakoda.  "We learned a lot together as a team today and hopefully we can turn this into some much needed positive momentum moving forward."

The 14th-place finish will keep Armstrong in the 14th position in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - 16 points of the top-12.

Armstrong and his JGL Racing team next head to Talladega Superspeedway for the running of the Sparks Energy 300.  The ninth race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Saturday April 30th and can be seen LIVE on FOX at 2:00 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
