Dakoda Armstrong Finishes a Disappointing 24th in Michigan

BROOKLYN, MI (June 12, 2016) - Coming off a promising performance at Pocono last week, Dakoda Armstrong and his JGL Racing team had high hopes as they entered the NASCAR XFINITY Series event at Michigan International Speedway. Unfortunately, Armstrong struggled with the handling on his No. 28 Winfield Toyota on his way to a disappointing 24th-place finish in the running of the Menards 250 at the track located in the Irish Hills of Michigan.

"We really struggled with our No. 28 Winfield Toyota today," said Armstrong. "We had pretty good practice sessions on Friday and were looking for another solid race. However, we were just very tight during the race. I just couldn't get a run off the corner like I needed to and we were also dealing with a 'draggy' feeling in our No. 28 Winfield Toyota."

Dakoda would start the scheduled 125-lap event from the 19th position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier in the day. When the green flag flew it was quickly apparent that Armstrong was dealing with an ill-handling car. The JGL Racing crew would utilize limited opportunities to come down pit road in attempting to improve the handling of their No. 28 Winfield Toyota. While they were able to make slight improvements for Dakoda he would be relegated to the disappointing finish at the end of the 250-mile event.

"We need to learn from this today to see why we struggled," added Dakoda. "The changes we made during the race did help a little but we needed a lot more. This team always rebounds from situations like this and I expect we will head to Iowa next week and do just that."

The 24th-place finish would keep Armstrong in the 16th position in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - 44 points of the top-12.

Armstrong and his JGL Racing team will next head to Iowa Speedway for the running of the American Ethanol E15 250. The 14th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Sunday June 19th and can be seen LIVE on Fox Sports1 at 1:30 pm ET. It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
