Dakoda Armstrong Battles for 17th Place Finish in Iowa
Posted: 7 years ago

NEWTON, IOWA (June 20, 2016) - Looking to rebound from a disappointing race last time out, Dakoda Armstrong came to one of his favorite tracks to do just that.  While battling warm temperatures, Armstrong would steer his No. 28 Winfield Toyota to a 17th-place finish in the running of the American Ethanol E15 250 at Iowa Speedway on Sunday.

"We battled the elements out there today but everyone fought hard and we came home with a decent finish," said Armstrong.  "Our No. 28 Winfield Toyota was loose early in the race but the JGL Racing crew made some good adjustments and we were pretty good there at the end.  We tried some tire strategy that just didn't work out for us otherwise I think we would have had an even better finish."

Dakoda would start the scheduled 250-lap event from the 21st position as a result of his qualifying effort.  Early in the race Armstrong would report to his crew that his No. 28 Winfield Toyota was a little loose on entry which was preventing him from charging the corners like he needed to.  The JGL Racing crew would make some key adjustments which were helpful along with a mid-race "Lucky Dog".  Dakoda would battle the heat and an on track encounter with his teammate to come home with his fifth top-20 finish of the season.

"This was a good rebound race for us after Michigan," added Dakoda.  "But I made a big mistake there towards the end of the race and spun out my teammate (Drew Herring).  That was purely accidental as I thought I was clear and obviously I wasn't.  Hopefully this race helps us build some positive momentum moving forward for the rest of the season."

The 17th-place finish would move Armstrong up to the 15th position in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - 40 points of the top-12.
After a much welcomed upcoming off week, Armstrong and his JGL Racing team will head to Daytona International Speedway for the running of the Subway Firecracker 250.  The 15th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Friday July 1st and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 7:30 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
