Dakoda Armstrong Scores Season Best 12th Place Finish in Daytona

DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA (July 2, 2016) - Dakoda Armstrong is a fan of restrictor plate racing and has a solid background that reflects that.  He backed that up on Friday night as he piloted his No. 28 Winfield Toyota to a season best 12th place finish in the running of the Subway Firecracker 250 at the Daytona International Speedway.

"Our No. 28 Winfield Toyota was pretty good for most of the race," said Armstrong.  "We were much better running in the outside line - we got stuck on the bottom there for a bit and unless I was towards the front our car just wouldn't go.  The guys on this JGL Racing team worked hard and we were able to avoid the many on-track incidents to come home with our best finish of the season thus far."

Dakoda would start the scheduled 100-lap event from the 26th position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier in the day.  The New Castle, Indiana native knew he had a good car in the draft and showed that as he methodically worked his way through the field and into the sixth position at the halfway mark of the event.

Armstrong would swiftly avoid the multiple on-track accidents and put himself in position for a solid finish at the end of the scheduled 250-mile event.  With overtime producing a wild finish and another last lap "Big One", Dakoda steered clear and brought his No. 28 Winfield Toyota safely home to a season best finish.

"We had to be patient throughout the race and a timely caution there at the end put us in a position to get a good finish," added Dakoda.  "This is a good follow up to our run a few weeks ago at Iowa and I think we have a little positive momentum on our side right now.  Hopefully we can go to Kentucky next week and keep things going in the right direction."

The 12th-place finish would keep Armstrong in the 15th position in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - 40 points of the top-12.

Armstrong and his JGL Racing team will next head to Kentucky Speedway for the running of the Alsco 300.  The 16th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Friday July 8th and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 8:30 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
