Dakoda Armstrong Finishes 18th in Kentucky

SPARTA, KENTUCKY (July 10, 2016) - Dakoda Armstrong and his JGL Racing team arrived at Kentucky Speedway not knowing exactly what to expect from the newly repaved and configured 1.5-mile track.  After a day of practice sessions to acclimate to the new conditions, the New Castle, Indiana native would steer his No. 28 Winfield Toyota to an 18th-place finish in the running of the Alsco 300 on Friday night.

"Everyone came into this week somewhat blind on what we needed to do to get our car running well at what is basically a new track for us," said Armstrong.  "We slowly gained on it during the practice sessions on Thursday but still lacked the overall speed we needed.  We continued to adjust on our No. 28 Winfield Toyota throughout the race and were the best there at the end."

Dakoda would start the scheduled 200-lap event from the 20th position as a result of his qualifying effort earlier in the day.  The early portion of the race would see the No. 28 Winfield Toyota just a little too free on entry into the corners.  A competition caution on lap 25 allowed for a trip down pit road and some helpful adjustments.

Armstrong would find throughout the race that his car would be better at the start of a run but would start to lose grip the longer he ran.  Dakoda would continue to hover around the top-20 and as his No. 28 Winfield Toyota got better in the later stages of the race he picked up valuable spots and came home with his third straight top-20 finish.

"I really appreciate all of the hard work from my JGL Racing crew this week," added Dakoda.  "This was a challenging week with the repave and new configuration at Kentucky Speedway - but everyone worked hard and we gained on it throughout the race.  That's three decent finishes for us in a row and I look forward to another one next week in New Hampshire."

The 18th-place finish would keep Armstrong in the 15th position in the overall NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers' standings - 44 points of the top-12.

Armstrong and his JGL Racing team will next head to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the running of the AutoLotto 200.  The 17th race of the NASCAR XFINITY Series season will be Saturday July 16th and can be seen LIVE on NBC Sports Network at 4:00 pm ET.  It can also be heard on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM Channel 90.
